Molo (Greek) – London, England (8/10)
Feb 9th, 2007 by admin
Greek restaurant Molo is situated between Cockfosters and Southgate tube stations on the northern section of the Piccadilly line, so had it not been recommended by my father-in-law, I probably wouldn’t have made the trip. It was, however, well worth it. As it was a sunny day, we sat outside, although the interior was spacious enough and not too packed, even for Sunday lunch.
The meze is recommended for large groups, but as there were only four of us, we chose individual dishes – Grilled Cornish Dover Sole (£19.95) (see photo of my partially eaten one, as I was so excited I forgot to take a photo until it was nearly too late) and Grilled Red Snapper (£16.95). The fish was incredibly fresh, succulent and perfectly cooked. Disappointingly, the thick cut chips that came as a side order were somewhat overcooked and too greasy for my liking, while the salad was overdressed.
The Dover Sole more than made up for this though, as did the fragrant home-made Rose and Vanilla ice-cream (one scoop of each) and the friendly and efficient service. I would definitely return for more fish accompanied by ice-cream!
I also love the meze at Vrisaki (Greek) – 8/10
10 – Perfection, 9.5 – Sensational, 9 – Outstanding, 8.5 – Superb,
8 – Excellent, 7.5 – Very Good, 7 - Good, 6.5 - Above Average, 6 – Average
