Second Helpings – August 2008 Round-up

Aug 30th, 2008 by admin

Baozi Inn zhajiang mian

The monthly summary for August on World Foodie Guide…

Well, the big news is that I’ve moved from wordpress.com to www.worldfoodieguide.com. The last week has been non-stop, making sure all the new plug-ins work, repairing broken links and so on. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you come across something that doesn’t work.

My photos from Baozi Inn have been published on Square Meal, which is great, as they’re among the first few taken with my new camera.

I’ve been busy researching where to eat on our October foodie trip to Hong Kong, Macau and Beijing. It’s taken a long time and I still haven’t narrowed down the many options. But I’ll be finishing the Hong Kong list in a few days. Thank you to everyone who gave me recommendations and suggestions!

Soseki wan mono

A meal at Burmese eaterie Mandalay was rather exciting, as it was the first time I’d tried Burmese food. From what I had, it resembled Indian, with a twist of Thai. I was also lucky enough to eat for free, not once, but twice, during Japanese restaurant Soseki‘s soft opening.

Finally, the last three of the Indian recipe series are now up. It’s been a lot of fun learning to cook dishes from a different cuisine.
